Morning. This picture is at a very intriguing angle. I wonder about why it was taken. Perhaps a promotional for Standard Gasoline? The technique here is very good

No idea. A crane or lift of some sort? An existing tower? The vast majority of these Shorpy images were taken by photographers the Farm Security Administration who were tasked with traveling the country to document poverty from 1935-1944. Obviously, they didn’t only take photos of rural scenes. So my guess is that this photo was taken from some existing structure. Thing is, the photographers weren’t just government stooges who were given a camera. They were some of the best photographers of their day, and the photos they took form an extraordinary, and artistic, record of that era of American history.

We owe so much of our photo documentation of daily life during that period to those photographers. What they did was incredible. I found the angle of that particular photo to be quite striking.

Good Morning.
I’ve entered the lame duck phase at my job. I was actually surprised when they wanted me to keep my access and work it out. My job is a pretty technical one in a high security environment, everyone that’s given their notice in the 5.5 years I’ve been there has had their access cut off. My manager didn’t give info security a call yet though, so we’ll see how today goes.

I’m really interested to know what all the car colors were like back then.
